Why vegetarianism is a positive, healthy and morale lifestyle:
By Hamish

They say that one man cannot change the world; they say that one man cannot change the way that things are, but if one doesn’t stand up, how will he ever be counted? God created humans with no hunting tools; we don’t have claws and we can’t run to catch a deer. Have you ever wondered why carnivorous animals can kill prey and eat it raw yet humans can’t, we must first cook the food? God did not build man for eating vegetables; our intestines are 5 times the length of that of a carnivore, our stomach acidity is 20% less than that of a carnivore thus prooving that by killing the animals you are betraying god; if you werent why is there so much evidence showing that jesus was against eating meat? A wise man named Leonardo Da Vinci once said “The time will come when men such as I will look upon the murder of animals as they now look on the murder of men”. I am telling you that now is the time to evolve past this fault that is making our race, humans, savages, for we should not see a life on earth for its species, whether it be human, deer or dog, we should see it for the fact that it is a life, and taking a life is murder.

There are many reasons to become a vegetarian such as morale reasons, religious reasons and health-related reasons. Some religions are against eating certain types of meat if not all meat, some examples of religions like this are buddhists and hindus.
The health related reasons are that vegetarians are scientifically proven to have lower cholesterols, lower blood pressures and a lower risk the mother of all diseases, cancer. According to a study done in England for 12 years: of 5,015 meat eaters and 6,115 vegetarians, it was found that vegetarians had 40% less chance of getting cancer. Vegetarians, According to William Castelli, MD, director of the Framingham Heart Study, also live three to six years longer than meat eaters. Those opposing to vegetarianism may argue that a vegetarian lifestyle is an unhealthy one, due to the lack of vitamins and nutrients required in a diet. This may be true if a vegetarian is not living a life with a balanced diet, but for the large majority of vegetarians they find these vitamins and nutrients and in other foods: for example Green, leafy vegetables, beans and legumes, and whole grains all contain iron, soy milks can provide vitamin B12 and grains and beans and pasta can all provide you with the necessary proteins.
A large reason why people become vegetarians is the morale benefits. An enormous amount of meat-eaters would not eat certain parts of an animal; this is because when they see certain parts they no longer think of what they are eating as a piece of meat but as a living being and like as said by Bob ekstrom "Tongue - a variety of meat, rarely served because it clearly crosses the line between a cut of beef and a piece of a dead cow. "
Some anti-vegetarians may say that vegetarians are not accomplishing anything as the animals are still killed. This point is incorrect as vegetarians are making a difference to the world as they are cutting down the number of animals that are being killed for human greed; think about it, if 10% of all people, only one in 10 people, were vegetarians then demand for animals would fall. This is because the 90% of meat eaters would not buy more meat just because there are more vegetarians.

There are many different types of vegetarians including vegan, fruitetarian , lacto-ovo, lacto, and pesco-ovo-lacto. These diets range from lacto-ovo that do not eat any animals but do eat dairy products and eggs to fruitarians that only eat fruit and fruit like vegetables such as tomatoes and cucumbers. Because of this wide range of diets it is easy to become a vegetarian as one can find the diet best adapted to themselves or progress through them .

Although sometimes not obvious there are some benifits of being a vegetarian that benifit communites and mankind not just the individual. One of these is that crops are much easier and faster to grow than animals; think about it, why feed cows all of your vegatbles and water and wait for years and then eat them instead of simply eating the vegetables and drinking the water? And also the cow will give out less energy than it takes in, that is basic science. Finally the land that the cows are raised on could be used to produce crops which take up less space and a fed simply with water and sunlight. With the lack of food and water becoming a large problem we should look at this point seriously as it may help people in the future.
In conclusion there are many reasons to become a vegetarian and many different types of vegetarian diets. Vegetarians will witness health benefits such as having significantly lower risks of obeisity, cancer and high blood pressures and morale benefits; they will not have the death of animals on their conscience. Vegetarians are becoming increasingly more popular with 3 million in the uk today and numbers rapidly increasing due to food and water shortages and the social acceptance of being a vegetarian becoming more popular.

In closing i say this, when it all boils down to it being a vegetarian isnt about the statistics the facts or anything else. Being a vegetarian is about one thing; being against animal murder. "Until we stop harming all other living beings, we are still savages." Thomas Edison
